    Description

Vtg 3D Tru-Vue True View Gypsy Rose Lee Strip Tease Stereoview  #1306 Burlesque
    ____________________________________________________________
I have been collecting 3D media for the last 30 years and finally decided it's time to part ways with some of my favorite things. This is one of the four hardest to find and most desirable Tru Vue films ever made. (Please see my other listings for the other three)
Gypsy Rose Lee is widely accepted as the world’s most famous stripper. This very rare Tru-Vue Film strip is titled, "Gypsy Rose Lee presents the Difference Between a Strip Tease and a Tease"  consists of fourteen paired 3D stereo photos on a film strip in its original box.
Gypsy Rose Lee's mother took her and her sister to a burlesque house and at the age of 15 where Gypsy made her debut. She took to the stage in a grass skirt and not much else and teasingly didn't take much off. The audience responded positively to this new form of striptease, which was more tease than strip. She earned a reputation for her onstage wit as well as her strip style. She went on to star in several movies, write best selling novels and even host her own television talk show. This rare Tru-Vue film captured the frenzy of Gypsy with three dimensional photography. Something way to bold for rival View-Master to cover.
    Condition:
    The original film...
is in excellent condition. I have personally gone through it with white gloves to inspect every frame and every film cog. Each one checked out and was perfect! You wont find one better.
    I
would suggest when viewing these rare films (and all other Tru-Vue films), to pull them slowly
through the viewer rather than using the advance lever. This is how the cogs get torn.
This original red & white box...
has all flaps attached and is also in excellent condition. It does have very slight shelf wear, which is to be considered from a small box that has been around for almost 70 years. I have tried my best to photograph every aspect of the box and film. Please check them out and if you have any questions, please email!
    Thanks for looking!

About Tru-Vue from the UK Viewmaster website:
TRU-VUE Inc., Rock Island, Illinois USA manufactured the viewers and over 400 different 3D film reels. The company was founded in 1931 and after the 1933 "Century of Progress Exposition" in Chicago grew and flourished through the 1930's and 40's. The original viewers used 35mm filmstrips, generally containing 14 stereo views, which were pulled through the viewer using a lever (visible at the bottom of the left-hand photograph below). In 1949 Tru-Vue sold over a million reels of film!.  The quality of the 3D presented is generally very good, although the films need to be handled carefully. Film-strips and viewers were made between 1933 and 1952. Ultimately the Tru-Vue company was acquired by Sawyers View-Master in 1952, who wanted the rights to Disney licenses held by the company.
