    VERY RARE WW2 U.S. MILITARY DARK BLUE PORCELAIN ENAMEL PLATED M-1942 CANTEEN WITH CAP AND CHAIN.
    RARE DUE TO THE DARK BLUE WHICH ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND. THE BLACK IS MORE COMMONLY AVAILABLE.
    NOTE: THIS IS DARK BLUE - NOT BLACK, AS IT MAY LOOK LIKE IT IS IN SOME PHOTOGRAPHS.

    NOTE: THE S.M. CO. REPRESENTS THE " SINGER MFG. CO. AS ONE OF THE MANUFACTURES THAT MADE THESE IN 1942.
    NOTE:
    The blue or black porcelain plated canteen's nomenclature was Canteen, M-1942 or Canteen, Enamel, M-1942. They were described by Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot specifications JQD 4C 13 Feb42 and JQD 94 23 Mar42 with Stock No. 74-C-83.
    Records indicate that the U.S. Army acquired about five million M-1942 enameled steel canteens from six manufacturers in 1942. In addition, these were mostly used by the U. S. Marine Crops, since the army did not want them. The manufacturers included:
