Copeland Late Spode Chowder Tureen

Large fish chowder serving tureen by Copeland Late Spode. The mark and registration number date it to 1891.
A pretty blue transferware pattern with bright polychrome floral clusters decorate the tureen. The scalloped handles provide a solid grip for this heavy tureen, but when viewed from the side are whimsical fish faces that seem to be laughing and smiling.
A very usable late Victorian serving piece. Minor gold loss, rough spots inner rim and foot.
