This vintage original lot of 160 1960s Gold & Clear Ink Pens are from the now defunct Franklin School Of Science And Arts 251 South 22nd Street Philadelphia Pennsylvania LOcust 4-3300 The school's curricula included medical technology , X-ray technology , dental technology and medical secretaryship . It's most famous alumnus is actress Beatrice Frankel or Bea Arthur (Television's " Maude " & " The Golden Girls ") who was a champion of civil rights and served as a benefactor of many charities . Israel Zamost in 1919 , his son Karlton Zamost expanded the curriculum in the 1960s and served as the school's president until CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) purchased the school . In 1977 CBS closed the school which was housed in a magnificent structure , formerly an 18th century church in Center City Philadelphia PA . Notable staff members were Dean Dr. Rita C. Schiavo , a humanitarian activist & an 83 year resident of Strathmere New Jersey who bequeathed much of her fortune to endow a library subsequently given her name along with Dr. John (Jack) Adair a controversial & outspoken figure who was at the cutting edge of the LGBTQ movement in the late 1950s until his tragic murder in California . The breakdown of the pens is as follows : fifty gold 1969 Golden Anniversary Narrow Clicker Issues with Benjamin Franklin 's likeness on them , seventy gold Wide Black Clicker issues & forty transparent issues w/black & white school logo inserts . All come in the cases shown in the photo .
